Focused Marketing Tips

Get focused marketing tips to help you grow your business starting now!

January always gives me this great motivation to make changes and get things done, and most business people I know feel the same way.

So now that we are hitting mid month, I thought it would be a good time to talk about getting focused on building your business. The best way to do this for fast results is to get focused and stay focused on a few tasks.

I know that in order to actually follow through, you have to choose a few things that are doable for you. Since we know that not everything will work for everyone, I have a list of several ideas on how you can market your business. But remember, only choose a few things to start so you don't become overwhelmed and end up doing nothing.

Please remember to give your marketing efforts some time. We all become so impatient that we don't give our efforts enough time to actually take hold. So trust that you are moving forward and give it time.

Are you ready?

1. Define your target market.

This sounds like it would be easy right? But if you pay attention to advertising you will start to notice that most of the time, the message is unclear or is trying to speak to everyone. So, before you do ANY marketing, know who you want to reach.

2. Try a marketing method that is new to you.

Getting into a rut with marketing is another reason we don't do it regularly. Have you always put ads in the paper? Why not do something in social media like set up your business Facebook page and Twitter accounts and actually take time to post messages?

Social media is here to stay so give it a try, you might really like it, and see some great results too.

3. Say thank you.

It's amazing how few people actually say thank you. When you do, it makes you stand out and people remember it.

Taking time to thank your clients does so much for your business and allows you to stay in touch with clients as well.

4. Optimize your website.

Websites are a must for every business. But there is no point in having one if your potential clients can't find you when they are searching for your service on-line. Learning SEO techniques or hiring someone else to do it for you is a vital step in marketing your business.

5. Network with the business community.

Networking can be a great tool in marketing your business but staying focused on who your client is will be the key.

It's best to network with your target market so associations are a great way to be social and network at the same time.

6. Email Marketing.

Short emails are always best but remember, you want to provide useful information as well. Attaching a great article that is relevant to your client is always a great idea.

I like doing this because your client can read it in their own time and it also reminds them that you are thinking about how to assist them.

7. Start a monthly ezine.

If you want a great, low stress way to stay in touch with clients and have a great way to inform them of new products or services or just to share success stories, feedback or information, e-newsletters are a great way to do that. Sending it bi-weekly or monthly is a perfect stay in touch plan.

8. Have some fun in your marketing efforts.

If you can make people laugh and feel happy they will most likely want to work with you. You can add a joke of the month or funny stories in your ezine or on your Facebook page.

9. Use postcards to promote a new service or just to stay in touch.

Postcards are an inexpensive way to let clients know you are thinking about them and remind them and potential clients you are ready to work. It's important to stay consistent and send them out on a regular schedule. Usually every three months works well.

10. Be sure to share good news.

Once you are working with a client and get to know them, it's nice to begin to share some of the good things happening for you.

Remember, what you share will depend on the type of relationship you have with the client, but the rule is that we want to work with those we like and trust and the best way to gain trust is to share.

Okay, now it's time to choose a few of these ideas and put them in place and working for you. If you only have time to do one, that's great. Just make a commitment to follow through so you can reap the rewards!
