Small Business Marketing Tips

Small business marketing tips are so important with small businesses becoming very popular these days with so many people being out of work and needing a way to produce an income.

In order to help you to understand how a homebased small business may help you to reach your personal and financial goals, I have asked Jasan Irungu of http://www.million-small-business-ideas.com to offer his best small business marketing tips and ideas on how to choose small business opportunities and small business ideas that can help you to reach your goals.

Thank you Jasan for talking with us.

1) Can anyone start a small business?

Yes Maria. Provided you have got what it takes to start that small home business. I am not talking about the capital, there are small business grants to help with that. I am talking about the guts, the urge, the motivation and of course having something to offer.

2) What is the first step in starting a small business?

The first thing to do is to write down the priorities you want for your life. Then make a list of small business ideas. The reason for doing this is to eliminate business ideas that cannot help you achieve your goals. For example, if you want to spend more time with your family at home, I’d bet you would not want to start a small business in the fast food industry.

3) How do we decide what is most important when deciding to start a business?

Every individual has their own set of priorities in life. Some want a business where they can retire early and still have a passive income; others want businesses where they are not only making money but also having fun doing it, etc. So it really depends on the individual. All I would say is that; don’t go for a specific business because your neighbor is doing it.

4) Some of us get overwhelmed when trying to figure out how to start. Is there a way to simplify the process of a small business startup?

Before you even start, it’s always a good idea to research the market you are interested in and be sure the product or service you will be offering is viable. You need to know who the consumers will be and see what the demand is. Find out what your competitors are doing and how you can do things differently from them. If you do your research diligently, you can be almost sure whether your small business will succeed or not, but don't forget the importance of your small business plans.

5) Is there a way to be sure your starting the right business for you?

Yes, if you have done your research as I mentioned earlier and found that the business is viable, and that it will help you achieve your goals. Not necessarily financial-but the ultimate goal of doing what you love, then you are assured it is the right one for you.

6) Are there any tools we can use to help us decide?

Yes and the tools depend on what type of business you will be doing. Online businesses use different tools from those of offline businesses. Being an online entrepreneur, I am sure you have come across the brainstorming tool for SBIers.

SBI is a how I create my on-line businesses.

For offline businesses, you can do your own research and compliment that with the data in the national bureau of statistics.

7) Do you have any tips about staying motivated long enough to reach our financial goals?

The best way I stay motivated is by trying not to overwhelm yourself with doing so much. Set and accomplish smaller goals everyday while focusing on the big picture.

8) What are the best type of businesses to start and why?

In my opinion and from experience, there is no better business than the other. It depends on an individual and what small business opportunities they have an interest in and having some small business marketing tips that are specific to that business is helpful too.

9) I have heard that internet businesses are the least expensive businesses to start, is that true?

YES. Provided you don't fall into the trap of GRQ’s (get rich quick). The idea that you will makes millions of dollars in two months is not realistic. But being least expensive to start does not mean you won’t have to put in the time and the work. I'm a big fan of writing and self publishing ebooks. Creating your own information products is a great marketing tool and I have found you can make money quickly after you publish.

10) Do you have any other advice can you give us to help us succeed in our own small business?

For those who are yet to start, just do it. Procrastination is the thief of time. For those who are doing it, devotion is the order of the game. If you are devoted, success is a sure thing.

Thank you Jasan for all the great small business marketing tips and ideas.
