Resume Writing Examples

"Resume writing examples can help you get focused on making yours stand out!"

Writing a resume...it seems simple enough doesn't it? Well, at least until you sit down to write your own!

A resume is a blue print of your work life. It should represent you. But remember to include just the facts.

Is it important to create an image? You bet it is. When looking for employment, the resume is the tool that either helps you to move on to the interview, or not.

You can use resume writing software to help you, or follow these great tips on writing a resume.

Tips for writing a resume

  • Be confident.

  • Choose a resume design that works for you.

  • Your resume should be in line with the job/ position you are applying for.

  • You should be writing resume objective(s).

  • Identify the key words in the job description. Use these keywords in your resume.

  • What are the employers needs? Solve those needs with key words in your resume.

  • You can be creative but don't lie. It will come back to bite you!

  • Create an image that matches the position you are seeking and the salary you expect.

  • If you have a specific title, use it if the job you are applying for is the same.

  • Include a cover letter that covers specific skills the employer is looking for.

  • Keep your resume tight. Don't go on and on.

  • Promote only skills you enjoy using. Never write about things you can do but hate doing.

  • Use examples and numbers which demonstrate progress or accomplishments due directly to your work.

  • Proofread your resume. And then have two friends proofread it too! You should have no errors. That will kill your chances!

  • Use Problem-Action-Results when you can to describe your accomplishments.

  • Don't go far back in your work history. About 10 years is usually enough.

  • Don't write a list of job descriptions. Focus on your achievements!

  • This resume is the gateway to your future, not a tell all of your past. Use only what is relevant and beneficial.

  • Use power verbs

  • Originality can win the job! But there is no guarantee.

  • Check out resume writing examples for the position you are seeking and evaluate what you like and don't like about them.
