Benefit From The Power of a Class
Online writing courses are a great way to improve your writing skills no matter what writing styles you have.
They can focus on several types of writing, including persuasive writing, play-writing, poetry, speech writing, essay writing, erotic writing, writing fiction, and non-fiction. And you can find some great ones for free!
But not all free courses are that great so if you really want to improve your own writing, invest in yourself. You'll be glad you did!
Do writers need a formal degree to be successful? Absolutely not! There are many published writers in all fields who have not had any formal education at all.
What does this mean for you? It means that you should have no problem using your new creative writing knowledge and your natural talent to start your writing career and see your work in print.
Is it a good idea to
take classes?
Well, I would say yes. A writing class
is one of the best ways to find a writing community. A group that gets
together to share successes, help to improve each others skills, and
even offer some great tips. And online writing courses offer so many great ways to communicate and share ideas.
What kind should you take? You need to
ask yourself, what is it you are looking for from the class? Do you
want to focus on craft, or do you need to reconnect with your
creativity? Maybe your looking to change something in your writing, or
expand your abilities. Or even start a successful business.
Whatever you are looking for, online writing courses can help to keep you focused, and it's great to have the feedback when you need it. Writers can get lost in their words and sometimes having the support of other writers can keep us in the real world. But not that many of us like it there...

So, why do so many of us really enjoy taking writing courses?
- It makes us feel alive!
- Writing keeps our brains working creatively.
- Writing changes our reality.
- Classes put you in touch with like-minded people.
- Writing adds colors to the world.
- You might just get published!
- You will think about self publishing!
- You will start a new career!
Over the years I have taken a lot of online writing courses. I love the fact that anytime I want or need to learn something new, I can find a course that will teach me exactly what it is I want to learn about.
I know when I just began my own writing journey, I would have appreciated someone who could offer the good, the bad, and the ugly on the writing courses that were out there. It sure would have saved me a lot of time and I wouldn't have thrown away so much money on low quality courses.
So with that in mind, I'd like to tell you about my favorite online writing courses and offer some additional information so you can decide if the course is for you.
Not all classes are for everyone, so depending on your own specific needs, you may or may not find my recommendations helpful to you, but like I said, I have taken a lot of courses, so hopefully I can help you with what you are looking for!
My Recommendations
(I own them all!)
American Writer's & Artists Inc. - This organization has so many really valuable online writing courses and I have taken several of them. I still refer to them in my own copywriting business even after taking most of them years ago.
Their sales pitch is a bit over the top, but don't let that scare you. Their courses are very solid and you will learn more than you think if you give them a try.
I'd definitely go back and take another course from them. Here are my favorites:
- AWAI’s Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting Test-Drive - This was the first of all the online writing courses I ever took from AWAI and I am so glad I did. It is what started my writing career and has given me the confidence I needed to continue to grow my own business. If you are on the fence about making the investment in your career, go for it. I am so glad I did and you will be too!
- Copywriting 2.0: Your Complete Guide to Writing Web Copy that Converts - Great course for writing web copy! I took this when I became interested in expanding my own business to include writing web copy for my clients.
- The Barefoot Writer - I am a subscriber to this on-line magazine and I absolutely love it! I look forward to it every month and you, as a subscriber, have a chance to write for them as well! There is so much great information every month as well as inspirational stories and tips and so much more.
Solo Build It/ SBI - If you'd like to build a money making website be sure to take a good long look at SBI. First of all, Solo Build It! has a comprehensive 300-page Action Guide plus a video Action Guide for those who want to watch instead of read. This is, hands down, the most comprehensive online course I have ever taken!
The Action Guide takes you through the entire process of building a money making website in an easy to understand 10 day plan. I don't want to give you all the details that the Action Guide does, but I do want you to read my story and see that Solo Build It! sites do work.
Yes, this site is an SBI site.
I have now built four sites with SBI and I have to tell you, I couldn't use any other program now. I have to admit that when I first started the Action Guide, I was completely overwhelmed! There is so much information you may feel like it's not doable, but trust me, if you just follow the Action Guide, and go step by step, you will build a successful, money making web business!
Set aside some time to read all about SBI. There are so may great case studies articles, and resources available so you can decide if SBI will take you where you want to be. You can watch this short video to get a full overview of what SBI is all about. I'm telling you, you won't regret it!

Blogging With John Chow - This blueprint will help you to start and run a successful blog starting from scratch. If you've never heard of John Chow you should know that he is a very successful blogger making more than $40,000 a month. But better than that, he teaches just how he does it step by step.
I love his program because he teaches in a way that anyone can learn easily and make a great income from blogging online. To take a look at his program.
