Definition for Technical Writing

Technical Writing 101: A Real-World Guide to Planning and Writing Technical Content

Technical Writing 101 : A Real-World Guide to Planning and Writing Technical Content

The definition for technical writing represents an increasingly broad set of activities that are meant to communicate clearly, jargon that is not always clear.

Technical writing is how complicated information is simplified, creating information about technical processes or products so they can be easily understood. That information can then be distributed as printed technical writing manuals, videos or online guides. Technical writing examples include DVD manuals, the old complicated VCR, (my clock is still blinking on mine!) and how to guides and information.

Technical writers that have technical writer jobs sometimes get the reputation of having boring work, or even being boring themselves. This is an unfair assessment of those in the field.

As a writer, it's great to share what you know, but it's even better to make money while you do it! And you can do both by Writing and publishing ebooks!

Technical writer jobs consist of finding the easiest way to accomplish a goal and require logic and the ability to communicate clearly. This profession is of high value and the pay reflects this with the average technical writer making over $50,000.00 a year and some making quite a bit more!

If you think technical writing might be for you, you will want to read Handbook of Technical Writing, Ninth Edition and Technical Writing Basics : A Guide to Style and Form.

These are both great books on the subject and if you want to be a technical writer I highly recommend reading them.

Technical writers work in many different industries. they may write for magazine or newspaper publishers, or they may be employed in other industries including high tech, law or other businesses.

Technical writers can work for colleges and universities or for the publishers of professional journals while others may work in advertising agencies.

Technical writers can also work for the federal government writing the pamphlets that are published by Government Offices. These pamphlets cover many different fields, including the activities of various government agencies and the developments in research in such areas as medicine, education, agriculture, and aerospace.
